Gucci S/S 2013 collection | Bright colours the sixties way

Bold colours ... pink, cobalt blue, yellow, green, coral, turquoise, and snake skin, Gucci takes us back to the swinging sixties with a bold twist
What a way to kick off Milan Fashion Week, with Gucci on the first day. They splashed us with some bright colours and this will definitely liven up our summer wardrobe next season.
Frida Giannini continued on her 2013 Cruise collection, with some beautiful simple shapes and bold colours, yet very detailed and sharp, taking us back to the sixties.
The main focus was on the back,  an open back as the object of desire. This contrasted with high collars, trouser suits and long beautiful gowns with fluted sleeves, making it a collection for the women who wants to be seen and who is confident.
Cobalt blue, coral and  different hues of green . Snakeskin featured on the runway in shades of grey and green, a trend which is now set in stone season after season.
Pretty shift dresses and accessories to match, clutch bags and messenger bags, including the detailed statement jewellery which gave a whole different appearance to some dresses, especially around the neckline.
Dark, elegant make up and a simple hair pulled up in a bun, Giannini's signature trait, to delve attention on to the clothing whilst keeping her woman's elegance intact.
The freshness of the collection can be seen through the vibrant colours and the impeccable tailoring, which is something by which Gucci vows. Frida Giannini, as always has left us with our eyes wide open, an affair with the bohemain woman and the feminine chic girl.
Would you dare to wear these colours? I would!

Men's Street Style | Firenze, Italy

The Boys, the Men and the Gentlemen in the streets of Firenze

My new Nikon D3100 produced some lovely shots, but the lovely shots wouldn't be what they are without ...  the men in Florence and their style
The most stylish man I saw on that day in Florence, with his cute dog
The man at the Cavalli cafe outside their shop

Busy man at work, I was taking a picture of the Duomo, and he popped in front of me
The young man in his casual style, love his shoes
Casual man
The busy man on his phone wearing a beautifully tailored blazer
Men and Florence are something, they know their style, true Italian style

OOTD| Leopard Print and black, out and about in the streets of Florence

Leopard Print and Black ... L'identita' della donna Italiana

For my third day in Florence, I decided to wear this outfit, one of my all time favourites, something classical which never runs out of style, a black blazer and a print dress, which has a lovely classical a-line shape.

The only two items which I bought recently are the handbag and the red pumps, the rest have been in my wardrobe for years ...

Fashion dreams | Firenze, Polimoda and Milan Fashion Week

The day has finally come, after months of waiting, today I move to Firenze in Italy to study fashion at Polimoda, Institute for Design & Marketing.
I have 4 suitcases, weighing approx 80kg, because when going to a fashion school and a city like Firenze, you cannot pack lightly, after all a fashion blogger, and someone who loves shoes cannot fail to look bad.
I will be entering the world of fashion as soon as I arrive because Vogue Fashion's Night Out is tonight, my luck! I'm excited!
I hope to meet Simone Righi, the man who was made famous by The Sartorialist for his exceptional style. I will be popping by his shop, Tie Your Tie, just wanting to get a glimpse of the man.
Then I'm off to Stefanel to meet one of my favourite fashion bloggers, Chiara Ferragni and get my hands on one of her t-shirts, where all proceeds are going towards those affected by the earthquake in Emiglia Romagna.
I cannot not visit Luisa Via Roma, THE STORE TO BE IN, a fashion heaven for all fashionistas, and one of the best supporters for fashion bloggers.
Tonight, I will be out and about in Firenze with my roommate Emily for FNO, the tomorrow its my first glimpse of Polimoda and of course off to Milan for Milan Fashion Week.

Jason Wu's stunning collection for S/S 2013 | New York Fashion Week

Leather, lace, scarlet lips, sheer, harnesses, black and monochrome, yet very refined ...
the new trends for S/S 2013 are emerging
Set in the St. John Centre Warehouse of the West Side Highway, a white runway with black lines, and a huge mirror, creating a duality. It was like escaping into a woman's world of glamour and intrigue, a dark beauty.

Jason Wu, walked away from his formal style and introduced his woman to a new kind of feminine edgyness. You can envisage this woman walking along the beach at the French Riviera or Capri, or walking into the office with confidence and poise.
The collection included a combination of black and white , leather,  sheer and lace. The harnesses were present again, as much as they were in BCBG's Max Azria S/S 13 collection
Beautiful tailored suits, paired up with pretty, 1950's style high waisted shorts, similar to culottes. Cigarette pants and A-line skirts, paired up with, bralets, body suits or a leather tailored jacket. The textiles and materials bring images to mind of pin-ups and that of a dominatrix with figure hugging silhouettes and belts which defined the waist, enhancing the seductive trait of women.
Soft-pink, coral and navy blue made an appearance on the runway, styled with either black or white, to give a bit of contrast and to remind us about the Spring/Summer season, seeing that black will be very dominant in next year's summer collections.
The shoes had studded details, especially around the ankle, and the court shoes had a transparent detail, which added more to that suggestive feeling of the collection. Hat bags, leopard clutches and sheer gloves added a subtle touch, in contrast with the very bold looks.
The hair reaffirmed Wu's refined woman, styled with a side parting and a very smooth texture and magnetic scarlet red lips.
This collection is one of the most raved about collections at New York Fashion Week, Wu has moved away from his formalities but kept his identity well in tact, his woman is refined, confident and has no room for doubt, she knows what she wants.

Stefano Pilati is named creative director of Ermenegildo Zegna

Back to Milan ... The Italian designer for Ermenegildo Zegna & women's luxury brand Agnona
In March 2012, the Italian designer stepped down as creative director at Yves Saint Laurent after spending more than a decade as head of design in Paris.
YSL A/W 2012 - the last collection by Stefano Pilati

This year has been called the musical chairs of designers, wondering where all these greats are going, after Raf Simons joined Dior, and  he was the only left and everyone was pondering on where he would go, until a few days ago when WWD confirmed that he as appointed as head designer and creative director one of the most established Italian brands in the world, Ermenegildo Zegna

He will not only take over the design of Ermenegildo Zegna but also of the women's luxury brand of ready-to-wear and accessories Agnona. The Men's couture collection will also be in the hands of talented Pilati.
A/W 2012 men's YSL collection by Stefano Pilato
He career started in the 1993, assisting in designing for the men's collection at Armani and and the same time he started designing for the women's collections at Prada and Miu Miu. In 2000 he joined YSL as second in command to then creative director Tom Ford, until he took the reigns in 2004.
Although his collections divided critics, he boosted profits for YSL and established the brand further. One of his most iconic pieces which he designed, is the Cabas Chyc bag, with the 'Y' logo in gold, a bag which was seen on everyones arm.
The group Ermenegildo Zegna CEO, Gildo Zegna, said “I’m thrilled to have Stefano in our group as he brings great talent, invaluable experience and enormous enthusiasm,”, he continued “We have ambitious plans for Agnona, and we strongly believe that under his creative leadership we will be able to develop this little jewel into a global brand.”
As my interest for men's attire and styling grows, I cannot wait to see his first men's collection for the men's couture line and the women's ready-to-wear for Agnona. Speculation is that his debut collection will be at Milan Fashion Week in June 2013 for the S/S 2014 men's collections ... a long, long wait, but in the meantime, he will start overseeing the brand's collection in January 2013.
